Senator Adam Hinds was elected to the Senate in 2016. He represents the largest geographic territory in the Legislature, which includes 52 Western Massachusetts communities. Senator Hinds serves as the Chair of the Joint Committee of Revenue and the Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Redistricting. Hinds is also a member of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, as well as several other policy committees with jurisdiction over matters of importance throughout Western Mass.
Before joining the Senate Adam spent nearly ten years working for the United Nations in the Middle East. He worked on negotiations in Iraq, Jerusalem and Syria. Senator Hinds is also the founding director of Pittsfield Community Connection, a program focusing on engaging at-risk youth. Hinds received his Bachelor’s Degree from Wesleyan University and a Master’s Degree in international relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is engaged to Dr. Alicia Mireles Christoff, a professor of English at Amherst College.
