William Brownsberger

President Pro Tempore

Senator Will Brownsberger was elected to the Senate in 2012 to represent his hometown of Belmont, Watertown, and the Back Bay, Fenway, Allston and Brighton neighborhoods of Boston. He is Senate President Pro Tempore and serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Redistricting and Special Joint Committee on Redistricting.

Senator Brownsberger’s priorities include climate change, criminal justice reform, economic equality, ensuring the proper supports for public education and building our transportation future. He served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 2007 to 2012 and was previously Chair of the Belmont Board of Selectmen, the Stormwater Flooding Board, and Belmont Democratic Town Committee. He served as a Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General, a defense attorney for the indigent and researcher on drug policy.

Senator Brownsberger is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He is married with three daughters and is a competitive triathlete, marathoner and cross-country cyclist.
