Cindy Friedman

Senator Cindy Friedman represents the Fourth Middlesex district, which includes Arlington, Billerica, Burlington, Woburn, and most of Lexington. Elected in 2017, she currently serves as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing, Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Covid-19 and Emergency Preparedness and Management, Senate Chair of the Women Legislators Caucus, as well as many other committees, caucuses and working groups.

A strong advocate for those often without a voice, Cindy is committed to combating the opioid crisis, improving access to high quality, affordable healthcare for all, ensuring mental health parity , and leveling the playing field for working families. Prior to being elected to the Senate, she worked as a public-school teacher, a director in the high-tech industry, and Chief of Staff to the late Senator Ken Donnelly. Cindy holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Roger Williams University and a master’s degree in special education from Lesley University. She currently lives in Arlington Center with her husband, John Page.
