Senator Michael Moore was elected to represent the Second Worcester District in November 2008. Born and raised in Millbury, Senator Moore has devoted his career to public service. Moore began his law enforcement career as an Environmental Police Officer working for the Department of Environmental Police and then as Deputy Superintendent of Worcester County Sheriff’s Department.

Moore serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Post Audit and Oversight and Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Financial Services. Moore is actively engaged in national policy forums including the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative Advisory Committee which advises the U.S. Attorney General on best practices in Criminal Justice policies, the NCSL’s Public Private Partnership on Disaster Mitigation and Recovery and the Critical Nontraditional Information Exchange Task Team.
